A routine is starting to develop. I like routines because it lets me know what to expect. I wake everyone up early and if I time it right they take me out and feed me. If I don't time it right they take me out and then they go back to sleep. I have nothing to do but go back to sleep too. The female pack leader and I go for a long walk or run in the morning after the male pack leader leaves. A nice elderly Japanese lady says hi to me most mornings. The walks/runs still make me nervous with all the new smells and sounds but it's getting better. Then the female pack leader will leave in the middle of the day and I sleep in the crate. I still don't like being left in the crate but haven't hurt myself anymore so far. The evenings have been quiet. I'm tired at night and spend most of them sleeping. Today was an exception. I got a new toy for 'my birthday.' I LOVE my new toy and played with it A LOT. I like to make it squeak. Then there were lots of people and noises outside this evening. The pack leaders were outside too so I stopped playing with my toy. I could hear and smell everything through the window screens. I tried my best to keep and eye on the pack leaders but it was hard. Finally they came inside and I could play with my toy again until it was time to go to bed.

Jenn's take on the day: I have been trying to get more comfortable driving by going out once a day. I successfully made it to Joyful Honda, Yokota Air Base, and Aeon Mall (for grocery shopping of all things!). I am starting to get more comfortable and am not 'white knuckling it' anymore...most of the time. Today, Trish took me to Daiso (it's like a dollar store). I picked up a cute cockatiel change purse for my yen and a equally cute pencil case that I will use to store hair clips. Tonight it was Halloween. The Japanese kids were so cute with their 'Trick or Treato." There were so many kids! I think some were bussed in. A few adults were holding up a lighted sign over their heads with lots of kids lined up behind them going from house to house. I was surprised when the kids and moms started giving us candy and even decorative soap as a thank you. That was a first for us. We ran through >450 pieces of candy in about 1.5 hours and had to go hide inside. David and I had a blast trying the different treats we had been given. Tonight was a lot of fun. I guess we will have to buy more candy next year.
