Akita Wonderful Festival - January 11, 2020

I am SO upset! The pack leaders took away my bed and replaced it with SOMETHING ELSE! It was my favorite place to sleep. The warm air from the heater made it toasty warm and I had figured out how to avoid the hard lumpy areas. I spent most of my days there. But it's gone now and SOMETHING ELSE is there. I followed the female pack leader around for a full day pouting to get my point across. She keeps trying to get me to walk on the SOMETHING ELSE by putting treats on it. I was suspicious but nothing jumped out at me when I ate the treats. After 2 days of pouting and laying on the carpet I reluctantly attempted to lay on the SOMETHING ELSE. I guess it's not THAT bad. There are no lumps and it is softer than MY bed. Maybe this SOMETHING ELSE will be OK.

Jenn's take: Dasher Drama Queen acted like I was the meanest person for getting him a memory foam bed. It was SO funny watching him melt into it once he finally gave it a try.

This weekend David and I went to the Akita Wonderful Festival. Akita is a region of Japan and the Festival was to highlight their dogs, food and sake. They also had a Taiko Drum show. People were lined up for a chance to pet the Akita Inus. Then again, there is a line for everything here.

David and I tried some regional dishes and then started the sake tastings. We are still looking for a sake to call "our favorite".

We really enjoyed the Taiko Drum show. It started with the musicians portraying Namahage gods. In the Akita region men dressed as the Namahage will visit lazy people and unruly children on New Years Eve to show them the error of their ways. They will eat and drink at each house before going on to the next.

Eventually the musicians took off their masks and continued the performance.

We had a really good time at the festival. The drum show was my favorite part.
