TeamLab is considered a digital art museum. It is better described as an immersive art experience. The art is digital - it surrounds you and interacts with you. There are no maps so you wander from one "artwork" to the next not knowing what you will find behind the next curtain...if you even see the curtain in the dark. The some of the 'art' will move from one room to the next. The experience was incredible and I cannot recommend it enough. I hope I can do it justice with this post. There was so much to see there and I know of at least one experience we missed. I am going to show you what I consider to be the highlights.

We started in a maze of moving flowers with mirrors. It messed with my depth perception and I had to be careful not to walk into a mirror.

Next we found what would become my favorite room. The music and the moving lights made you FEEL the art. I think I had goosebumps at one point.

I don't know how to explain the next room. I think 'Forest' was in the name. The ground was spongy and undulating. There were digital waterfalls, salamanders, butterflies, and snakes moving across the floor. If you moved into the path of the animals they would move away from you and leave an explosion of flowers in their wake. In one corner of the room paper and crayons were provided. They scan your drawing into the system and your artwork will appear on the floor and move. There was a similar room down the hall where you could draw sea creatures and they would swim across the walls.

In the "game" part of the forest we had challenges to complete. The first one involved moving through the forest using only the hand and foot holds. Ideally we would touch the same color the whole time and be rewarded with a chime.

I had a lot of fun with the next challenge. We had to maneuver through a course of connected foam rectangles which were suspended from the ceiling. They were all connected so as other people moved the one you were standing on would move as well.

The Tea House was really cool. A digital flower would bloom inside your tea everytime you set it down. I had also ordered green tea ice cream and green vines spread across the table whenever I set the bowl down. Periodically butterflies would join us.

When you picked up your glass of tea, the flower would fall apart and the petals blew away. When we set down our glasses the process would start again.

After our refreshments we explored more rooms. This is a video from within a maze of LED lights.

There was SO much more, but you really need to experience it for yourself. I am going to close this post with a few random pictures of our visit.
