Showa Park has been closed for weeks due to COVID-19. Luckily, prior to the closure I was able to spend a few nice afternoons there. We are so lucky to live so close to such a nice park!
The Japanese Garden is always so peaceful.

One new discovery within the Japanese Garden was the bonsai displays. The first picture is a plum tree bonsai.

There were a lot of REALLY old trees. This one was greater than 300 years old. It is really amazing to think of the generations that have tended to these trees for so long.

Lots of the normal sized trees were enjoying spring as well. This is a Japanese magnolia:

And here is a Japanese Dogwood:

The spring flowers were popping up everywhere you looked.

Showa also had a tulip garden planted but the last time I was there they were just starting to bloom. This last picture wasn't taken at Showa but I put it here as a homage to what might have been. This is a picture of the "Tulip Park" near Miyanoshimoundo Park.

The state of emergency has been lifted for Japan, but as of this morning Showa Park was still closed. I am hopeful they will open the park again soon.
